All the training is pretty much done now for my attempt at the Lakeland 100. I've been really lucky and managed to recce the whole route! The climbs really shocked me at first as I'm used to running on the Yorkshire Moors, but it's been great prep for the big day.
My training has gone really well. I have stayed fit and healthy which is the main thing, but I have also been very consistant. I tried to enter events along the way and use them as my long runs. I did this for Gibside marathon, Hardmoors Wainstones marathon and the Durham Dales Challenge too. Gibside was on June 10th and Wainstones was on the 11th so this was a tough weekend, but If I'm planning on running for 100 miles then I should be able to cope with this. I came 3rd at Gibside and 7th at Wainstones! All in all a great birthday weekend. I always love Hardmoors and North East Marathon Club events as I bump into loads of friends.
I raced the Durham Dales Challenge the other week and managed to win it! It is a LWDA event so they are not usually competitive, but a win is a win and I managed to get the course record too. The LDWA and it's army of volunteers do an amazing job and this event didn't disappoint. A fantastic course, great marshals and cake on the check points. I thought I'd had enough sugar during the run, but I somehow found the strength to eat a Greggs doughnut on the way home :)
